Brodie Ellis @ Linden New Art

Addressing topical and environmental issues, hear from the artist about the significance of Brodie Ellis’s work which features a rocket weighed down by rendered clay. Ellis grounds her sculptural SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket to question whether the purpose of this technological feat should actually be realised.

Ellis’s exhibition presents a video, sculpture and sound installation. Beautifully abstracted fragments of dozens of rocket launches are blended together in a fluid animation that focuses on jet propulsion and the burning of resources. The sculptural components reference design elements of SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy, the most powerful operational rocket in the world, which holds contracts with the U.S defence force. Ellis’ work will distil the vessel to its essence through rendering in white clay, pine, linen and paper.
