Illuminate Tomorrow – St Kilda Sea Baths Turns Green in support of MITO

September 16 - September 22

St Kilda Sea Baths to Light Up Green for World Mitochondrial Disease Week 2024

From Monday, 16 September, to Sunday, 22 September 2024, the iconic St Kilda Sea Baths will be bathed in vibrant green light to mark World Mitochondrial Disease Week (WMDW). This global event raises awareness of mitochondrial disease (mito), a debilitating genetic disorder that affects thousands of people worldwide.

A Cause Close to Home

The green-lighting of the Sea Baths is a beacon of support for those living with mitochondrial disease. Mito affects how the body’s cells produce energy, leading to severe physical, developmental, and even life-threatening consequences. As part of the WMDW awareness campaign, St Kilda locals and visitors alike can make a difference by supporting the cause through exclusive offers from businesses within the Sea Baths Beachfront Complex.

Sip and Eat to Support MITO with Republica & Beachcomber.

As you visit the St Kilda Sea Baths this week, why not stop by Republica or Beachcomber Café? Both venues are offer special promotions throughout the week, with a portion of proceeds going directly to support MITO, the organization spearheading the global fight against mitochondrial disease. Whether it’s a refreshing drink or a delicious meal, every purchase helps raise much-needed funds for research and support services.

Republica St Kilda Beach is participating in Campari’s ‘Negroni Week’ charity initiative by offering a Classic Negroni along with 2 special Negroni variations; a Plum Negroni and La Rosita Negroni. $1 from every Negroni purchase will be donated to MITO

Beachcomber Cafe is serving up their tantalising ‘Open Souvlaki’ with Greek Salad, Pita, and Tzatziki (yum) famed across Melbourne. Every meal raises $2 for MITO.

A Global Initiative, a Local Impact

World Mitochondrial Disease Week is a time for communities around the globe to come together, and the St Kilda Sea Baths is proud to play its part. In fact, MITO’s tireless campaigning and fundraising efforts have already contributed to over $5 million raised worldwide. By visiting the Sea Baths during this time, you can directly contribute to this important cause and help illuminate a better tomorrow for those affected by mito.
