SUMMARY:Steve Poltz ‘Shine On Australia’ Tour @ Memo Music Hall
DESCRIPTION:Throughout over three decades in music\, STEVE POLTZ did it all and more—often shared by way of his rockin’ countrified folk slices of sardonic Americana (hatched in Halifax). Of course\, he co-wrote Jewel’s multiplatinum Hot 100-topping megahit “You Were Meant For Me\,” but he also went on a whale watch with her and a few federales that turned into a drug bust. The two still share the story at every festival they play together. He made his bones as the frontman for underground legends The Rugburns\, who burned rubber crisscrossing the continent on marathon tours and still pop up once in a while for the rare and quickly sold out reunion gig. \nGet 10% off your ticket with the code: STKILDAROCKS

DESCRIPTION:Meet the Artist > Brodie Ellis  \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHEN> \n\n\nSunday 20 October  > 2PM to 3PM \n\n\n\n\nVENUE> \n\n\nLinden New Art\, 26 Acland Street\, St Kilda \n\n\n\n\nCOST > \n\n\nFREE \n\n\n\n\n\nAddressing topical and environmental issues\, hear from the artist about the significance of Brodie Ellis’s work which features a rocket weighed down by rendered clay. Ellis grounds her sculptural SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket to question whether the purpose of this technological feat should actually be realised. \nEllis’s exhibition presents a video\, sculpture and sound installation. Beautifully abstracted fragments of dozens of rocket launches are blended together in a fluid animation that focuses on jet propulsion and the burning of resources. The sculptural components reference design elements of SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy\, the most powerful operational rocket in the world\, which holds contracts with the U.S defence force. Ellis’ work will distil the vessel to its essence through rendering in white clay\, pine\, linen and paper.

SUMMARY:St Kilda Puppy Pub Crawl - Parma Series
DESCRIPTION:Join us for St Kilda Puppy Pub Crawl – Parma series! \nWalk your dog and chill with us at the beaches & the heart of St Kilda as we visit dog-friendly venues on a Sunday arvo. The first two venues are directly in front of the ocean\, venues range from a beach pavilion\, a stunning modern beer garden to a prominent live music venue. All of the seating areas for our group are undercover with heating. \nWe start off with a walk along St Kilda West Dog beach to St Kilda main beach\, where most areas are off leash. We then continue to walk into the heart of St Kilda. \nTotal walking distance 2.2 km. \nMeet at St Kilda West Dog Beach in front of West Beach Bathers Pavilion\, 10 mins before the event starts for an introduction. \n1st stop – West Beach Bathers Pavilion. Once a bathing pavilion in the 1930s\, this historic building now caters to modern beach-goers with absolute beach-front premium casual dining and drinks. Your dogs can take advantage of the sprawling beach while we are at this pavilion. \nOur group will be served flat bread with hommus to share while having our drinks. West Beach also offered our group a special price for their soup of the day at $14.50. \n>>>  1 km walk from St Kilda West Dog Beach to the promenade >>> \n2nd stop – Republica St Kilda Beach. Republica has saved us a spot at their middle courtyard\, a spacious undercover area to sit back while enjoying the view of the iconic St Kilda Beach. Expect a spectacular sunset on a good day! There will be live music when we arrive\, but quite far from where we’re sitting so ideal for the dogs. Happy hour will start at 4 PM where we can enjoy a$12 espresso martini and $10 mulled wine. Republica has offered our group a special price for their pizza at $20. Best of all\, their chef has made something special for our furry babies – Doggie Martinis! Yes\, our dogs can enjoy their free Doggie Martinis here at Republica\, a cool place ‘to see and to be seen’ by other dogs 😀 \n>>>  1.2 km walk from the promenade to New Market Hotel  >>> \n3rd stop – New Market Hotel. A hip and modern beer garden in the heart of St Kilda\, the New Market Hotel makes exotic cocktails and has 17 beers on tap. The New Market Hotel has reserved a section of their undercover beer garden with a heater on top of each table for us and our dogs. Here our dogs will be served Puppy Parma – it consists of a mini chicken schnitzel\, shaved ham and is topped with bocconcini and greens. No Parma is complete without the side of chips (duck and turmeric dog treats) and salad (chicken\, rice\, vegetable kibble). We encourage you to stay on and enjoy their pub classic meal and their woodfired grilled dishes. \nPS: Puppy Pub Crawl has events all around Melbourne. SUMMARY:RAIN ROOM MELBOURNE
DESCRIPTION:Fri 9 Aug to Sun 29 Sep 2019\nRandom International’s monumental artwork Rain Room is a responsive environment engaging all the senses. \nA 100 square metre field of continuous rainfall\, Rain Room invites you to become fully immersed in the rain while simultaneously being protected from it. The millions of water droplets respond to your presence by ceasing to fall wherever you move as you navigate the space. Through Rain Room\, Random International seeks to explore how human relationships to each other and to nature are increasingly mediated through technology. \nFollowing blockbuster showings at LACMA in Los Angeles (2015/6)\, the Yuz Museum in Shanghai (2015 and 2018)\, the Museum of Modern Art\, New York (2013)\, and London’s Barbican (2012)\, this globally significant work is coming to Australia – premiering in Melbourne soon\, for a limited time only.

SUMMARY:Hola Melbourne! 2019
DESCRIPTION:13 – 29 SEPTEMBER 2019\nHola Melbourne brings you a new generation of a Latin American festival – two full weeks of interactive events where you can enjoy\, learn\, create\, and be immersed in art\, music\, literature\, film\, and ideas. \nBy 2017 4Diverse\, as a local community organisation\, had noticed the rapid growth of the Latin-American community in Port Phillip. Based on this observation\, we decided to run the Latin American Art Exhibition 2018 which took place in March 2018. \nThis event was a great opportunity for us as an organisation to connect with the local community\, and gain a sense of what is happening locally in the Latin American art scene and culture. \nThe success of the first edition of this initiative encourages us to present a wider program\, such as the:\nHOLA MELBOURNE! FESTIVAL OF LATIN AMERICAN CULTURE AND IDEAS. 2019. This program is much more ambitious regarding the range and scope. 4Diverse will create interactive performances that involve local visual artists\, musicians\, writers\, academics and dancers to actively engage the community. \nAt HOLA MELBOURNE! 2019\, we aim to make activities as inclusive as possible. We involve our audiences with artists\, and provide opportunities for people to be involved in the creation of art\, music and dance. We also offer the chance to reflect on contemporary issues related to Latin American countries and the presence of Latin American people in Australia. \nView the full program here.
