We’re thrilled to welcome you back for Victorian Winter School Holidays, as we control guest numbers and introduce new procedures to help keep everyone safe and distanced.

It really is time to turn off those screens and get lively with the family or a few mates ‘just for fun’.

During our initial re-opening phase we will run two 3-hour ‘Spin & Grin Sessions’ daily from 27 June – 12 July 2020 that will require everyone to purchase an online ticket before visiting. Each session will feel like you have the Park almost to yourself, with numbers reduced to around one quarter of our usual crowd. The queues won’t be too long, but you will need to stick to a few rules like keeping your distance from others and practicing hand hygiene before going on rides.

Not too much to ask for the chance to spin and grin for 180 minutes of full-on-fun!

Reduced price session tickets will be $15 for toddlers 0-3 years and $35 for 4 years – adult. These discounted tickets will go on sale Thursday 25 June releasing session availability until 31 July 2020, by which time further sessions will be assessed and released.

Popular sessions may sell out due to capacity limits, so we ask for the community’s patience and understanding while we work through major changes to our operation.

Ticket sales from Thursday 25 June:

Toddlers 0-3yrs: $15,

4+years – Adult: $35

No ticket box sales. Tickets only at available on the Luna Park website.

Extended terms and conditions can be viewed at the Luna Park website.

Session times 11am – 2pm and 3pm – 6pm daily during school holidays, and weekends until 31 July.

Yippee it’s the long summer holidays soon – school’s out, it’s going be hot and everyone will thinking about chillin’ and having fun.

So, Luna Park will make the good times roll with new sights and heights this Summer. Gather the family and head to Luna Park from 21 December till 2 February 2020 for a trip up, up, up high into the sky that’ll have you screaming with delight all the way!

Luna Park’s General Manager, Matt Butta says St Kilda’s skyline won’t be the same now the Park’s brand-new SUPERNOVA ride has moved into its new home.

“We’re very excited about operating our new GIANT SWING TOWER this Summer and taking passengers for a super high and fast 360° spin 32 metres into the sky!”

“This thrilling ride takes you soaring high above the St Kilda landscape.

“During the day while riding Supernova there will be amazing views of Port Phillip Bay to take in and at night riding with 3,000 lights will create a starry experience to remember,” he said.

Together with the new and electrifying Supernova ride, visitors to Luna Park can also enjoy recent ride addition – the ‘Happy Swing’.

Made especially for younger guests to sit and enjoy the whoosh of wind in their hair as they sway gently back and forth.

Grown-ups are also invited to sit, swing and feel the joy when they see littlies giggling away as everyone moves slowly to and fro. Guests will also notice the Park’s favourite Carnival Games and Games Huts have been renovated and relocated. There you’ll find the authentic ‘Laughing Clowns’, ‘Knock-ems’ and dart-popping ‘Big Bang’ balloons and more all huddled together!

With proximity between games, jumping from one to other will be super easy and your winnings may increase too – but only if your skills are up to scratch. Likewise, you’ll notice our Snow Cone Cart working overtime.

So, don’t forget to slurp on a frozen snow cone in one of six refreshing flavours like strawberry, lemon or green apple to cool down when its super-hot and make sure to tuck into some delicious hotdogs and fairy floss galore!

Do get to Luna Park during this long summer break because in the blink of the eye school will be back in fashion! Buy an Unlimited Ride Ticket pass and enjoy endless twisting and turning on all the rides all day/night long.

MEMO Music Hall is an iconic performance venue in the heart of St Kilda run in partnership with the St Kilda RSL.

Located behind the RSL, MEMO offers a diverse program of entertainment including, live music, theatre, filming and music ranging from classical recitals to down and dirty rock ‘n’ roll. MEMO is also in demand as a recording and rehearsal space due to the superior acoustics of this unique space.

MEMO has had a vibrant past since it opened in 1924 as a dance hall dedicated to raising revenue for distressed soldiers and their families. Following the rise in popularity of cinema, it went on to house The Memorial picture theatre from 1927 to 1958, when it became affectionately known as ‘The Memo’.

A colourful past

From 1961 to 1965 MEMO music hall was the home of TELEFIL recording and film studios under the supervision of legendary sound engineer Bill Armstrong. The stars of Channel 7’s weekly variety program Sunnyside Up, including Olivia Newton-John, recorded the audio at MEMO miming to the pre-records live on-air. The Channel 9 Big Band also recorded at MEMO due to its size and acoustic splendour.

Amongst its claim to recording history fame is its location for Normie Rowe’s 1965 hit, It Ain’t Necessarily So. Banned initially for its lyrics, it was the first number one record in both Sydney and Melbourne, by a Melbourne-based artist.

In the 1980s and early 1990s Pan Pacific films were based at MEMO where it was used for filming and as a rehearsal space. The 2003 film ‘Ned Kelly’ starring Heath Ledger was rehearsed here. MEMO continues the tradition of being home to rehearsals, recording and live performances.

On 2nd February 2019, Melbourne was bewildered by the unveiling of The Wonderful Two, which offers a symbol of hope and education that future generations can do better.

The sculpture depicts Najin and Fatu connected in the middle, with their heads facing opposite directions. Both rhinos are trying to pull each other the opposite way to safety. It seems their fate is stuck in place and time with only two left on earth, and no simple direction to freedom.

We want The Wonderful Two to celebrate all of the amazing people and organizations that drive positive change in wildlife conservation. The sculpture is aligned with the hashtag #LoveTheLast.

Visitors are asked to take a photo with the artwork and share it with the hashtag #LoveTheLast, jump starting efforts to spread critical awareness. Donations to Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya will assist Najin and Fatu to live out their much-deserved final days in peace.

On until 30 April 2019 at Republica, St Kilda Sea Baths.

Discover the St Kilda Pier Penguins: A Must-See Melbourne Experience.

The breakwater end of St Kilda Pier is home to a colony of 1,400 little penguins.

If you’re looking for an unforgettable Melbourne experience, a visit to the new St Kilda Pier should be high on your list. Known for its scenic City and Bay views, historic charm, and resident St Kilda Penguin colony, St Kilda Pier offers a unique blend of nature and leisure just minutes from Melbourne’s CBD.

Meet the St Kilda Penguins

Every evening, just after sunset, St Kilda’s remarkable Little Penguins make their way ashore at the St Kilda Breakwater, located at the end of the New St Kilda Pier, just past the historic kiosk. These tiny, charismatic birds draw visitors from all over the world and are one of Melbourne’s best-kept secrets.

The best time to see the penguins is 30 minutes after sunset, when they return from a day of fishing in Port Phillip Bay. The boardwalk provides the ideal vantage point to observe them as they hop across the rocks or perch atop the breakwater.

This natural wonder is open to the public every night of the week, making it an accessible and family-friendly activity.

Responsible Wildlife Viewing

The St Kilda Penguin colony is cared for by Earthcare St Kilda, a dedicated not-for-profit organisation focused on research, monitoring, and protection of this urban wildlife population.

To protect the penguins and ensure they thrive:

Stay on the boardwalk

Keep a minimum distance of 3 metres

Do not use flash photography

These guidelines help maintain a safe and respectful environment for both the penguins and visitors.

Park, Dine, and Refresh at St Kilda Sea Baths

Planning your visit is easy with convenient amenities at the St Kilda Sea Baths, located at the start of the St Kilda Pier.

Parking is available, making access stress-free for drivers.

Enjoy a meal or drink at one of the Sea Baths’ beachfront restaurants and cafes – perfect for a pre-sunset dinner or post-penguin drink.

Bathrooms are available to the public, ensuring a comfortable visit for families and tourists alike.

Plan Your Visit

Whether you’re a local Melburnian or visiting from abroad, a twilight trip to St Kilda Pier offers the perfect mix of nature, relaxation, and coastal charm. With penguin sightings, seaside dining, and convenient facilities all in one location, it’s easy to see why this is one of Melbourne’s most treasured spots.

Respect the penguins, enjoy the view, and make memories at St Kilda Pier.

Want to see the Penguins in the wild and don’t have the time to travel to see the Phillip Island Penguins?

Join the St Kilda Ferry for a breathtaking experience you won’t forget on their Sunset Penguin Cruise in St Kilda, Melbourne, Australia. As you embark on this unique adventure, you will be welcomed by a safety briefing from the experienced and friendly crew to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip for all, including the Penguins.

Departing from the St Kilda Pier, the boat will head out through the Marina beyond the rock wall, where you will witness the sun setting over Port Phillip Bay and Melbourne. As you admire this picturesque view, you’ll have the opportunity to spot our little friends, the St Kilda Penguins.

The St Kilda Breakwater is home to around 1,400 “Little Penguins” who head out into Port Phillip Bay each day to go fishing. However, at sunset, they return home to the rock wall at the end of the St Kilda pier. This is when we get the chance to see the amazing St Kilda Penguins going about their evening routine.

As dusk approaches, the St Kilda Ferry crew brings out the red torches and the boat heads into the marina for a closer look at the penguins. This is where you can see these adorable creatures approaching the boat just meters away, as they climb up into the rocks to socialise, before bed. It is truly a heartwarming experience to see them in their natural environment, going about their daily routine.

During the St Kilda Ferry Sunset Penguin Cruise, you can often see the penguins jumping from rock to rock as close as 5 meters from the boat! It’s a rare and memorable sight that is sure to leave a lasting impression.

The crew from the St Kilda Ferry love what they do and will do everything they can to make your experience as comfortable and enjoyable. The crew pride themselves in top-notch customer service and as a result the crew onboard are often a secondary highlight boasting wonderful reviews on Google.

Exhibitions change every eight weeks and are supported by a range of dynamic programs to allow visitors to learn about, debate and question contemporary art. Opportunities to meet artists and curators are regular features of the programs.
